Limassol the second largest city in Cyprus, has the great advantage of being centrally located on the south coast with easy access and short travelling distances to any part of the island.

Limassol is renowned for its long cultural tradition. A wide spectrum of activities and a great number of museums and archaeological sites are proposed to the interested visitor. A unique combination of ancient, Frankish, Byzantine and other modern influences is observed. Visit the Limassol Castle where King Richard married his Queen Berangaria. Night life is interesting and security in the streets unsurpassed. Cultural life is rich and many events are organized by the town's Municipality almost daily. In the summer months the open air theatre in the public gardens has ballets, opera’s, concerts from all over the world.

For 10 days before lent the Town of Limassol is full of gaiety, laughter and fun with an abundance with Carnival parties and parades.

The town itself is a maze of quaint streets, combining modern and traditional shopping, museums and carefree holiday atmosphere. With its long sandy beaches, wide seafront promenade and numerous noteworthy historical sites, unsurprisingly, Limassol has become the leading seaside resort on the island. Acting as a magnificent backdrop to the city that spreads for ten miles along the coast is the majestic Troodos mountain range.

Travelling north, towards the fertile foothills of the Troodos Mountains, the sight of picturesque villages and livestock clinging precariously onto rock-face is breathtaking. Cultivated on this rich land are olives, almonds and cereals as well as some of the finest wine-producing grapes; crowing Limassol as the wine capital of Cyprus.

A visit to the Wine Festival in September is a must for visitors and residents alike. With such a vibrant fusion of past and progressive present, Limassol emerges as a spirited cosmopolitan seaside town surrounded by culture and deep-rooted traditions.
